Real World MICR Toner Cartridge Testing Process
We build our MICR toner cartridges one at a time, and test each one individually for performance. To ensure that your MICR toner cartridge works - because printing MICR checks that don't read is NOT a good thing - we test it in a way that reflects how it will be used in the real world.
First we print a series mock MICR checks using a real check printing software application. This application prints actual checks (with fake account data, of course) with routing numbers, account numbers and other data - exactly like a real check.
Next, we use a second software application to process the MICR checks just like a bank would. The checks are fed through a MICR reader which scans the check, reads the information and displays it on screen to verify text recognition and MICR line resolution.
To complete the testing each MICR check in the series is also tested for MICR signal strength - a measurement in how strong the MICR signal is - which ensures that the check can be read by banks, or any other processing system. The results of this testing illustrate the high and low signal strength with each check. If the strength is within range the MICR toner cartridge is passed, and ready for you to use!
